Another historical eBay auction....

The next biggest historical figure memorabilia for sale on eBay, since the selling of the "Popemobile," is the eyepatch of the famed Israeli defense minister Moshe Dayan. Starting at $75,000, you too can own a piece of history--providing you have enough greenbacks to cover it.

Maybe Golden Palace will buy it, too. (they bought the Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Pope Benedict XVI's former VW on eBay for $28,000 and $226,000, respectively)

The sounds of a tsunami...

According to this article, scientists from Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory released an audio recording of the tsunami under the ocean with microphones designed for listening to nuclear explosions.

Listen here for the eerie crescendo.

Goodbye, Scotty...

James Doohan, the engineer of the Enterprise on Star Trek, died yesterday from pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease at the age of 85. His ashes will be released into space, like his Star Trek predecessor in death, Gene Roddenberry. Thanks for all the years of beaming us up, Scotty.

Europe--Thy Name is Cowardice

Here is an excellent commentary by a German CEO, Matthias Dopfner, about where he sees the complacency and appeasement of Europe has gotten them. The article speaks for itself.

Thanks to Nicole for the article.

The new Narnia poster

Here is the new Narnia poster for the upcoming movie, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Rumor has it that Liam Neeson has taken Brian Cox's place as the voice of Aslan, but that has not been confirmed, nor has it been listed as part of Liam's filmography at this point.

If you didn't catch the trailer from my previous post a while back, here is an easier link to view it. Well worth your view, in my opinion...

Click here to find other behind-the-scenes video clips of the movie.

Update (7/18/05): It's official...Liam Neeson is indeed the voice of Aslan for LWW.

Biblical fragments found the Judean Desert

Here is an article about a discovery of Biblical fragments from the book of Leviticus, found in the Judean desert in "refugee" caves where Jews hid from the Romans in the 2nd century AD. Found on animal skins, they are being tested for their validity, since some recent "artifacts" have been proven as modern forgeries. If they are indeed authentic, it will further prove the passing on of Biblical text in its pure form over the years, since scribes were required to start a whole scroll over if they made one mistake.

The World's Ugliest Dog

To borrow this from "Relevant:"

Sam, a 14-year-old pooch, claimed this year's winner of the World's Ugliest Dog Contest. The dog's owner explained that he's so ugly even the judges recoiled when he was placed on the judging table. Click here to see a picture of the dog, if you dare...

Believe me, it is truly shocking.

"Passion" Score to be performed as a Symphony--Rome premiere

If any of you saw "The Passion of the Christ" last year, you know how powerful of a movie it is. Much of the power would not have been as pronounced had it not been for the music that underlined all the scenes, composed by John Debney. As was anticipated a while back, Debney has recalibrated the score into a symphony to be performed in Rome on July 6, 2005, and hopefully will be touring around the world in the near future. Here is an interview with Debney about his music in relation to the movie and with his new symphonic arrangement of his composition.
